Create Project
A project is a container that isolates and secures the project information, allowing access only to authorized users. By design, an admin or owner of the organization must create a project so that the same can be used by members for pushing data to the platform.
NOTE:
Creating a project is a one-time activity. You can create only one project per organization.
When an organization is created in FactoryTalk Hub, a project is provisioned in FactoryTalk DataMosaix. When the user or an admin clicks FactoryTalk DataMosaix tile in FactoryTalk Hub for the first time, the initial setup window is displayed. In this window, the user should choose a cluster from the list of available clusters for creating a DataMosaix project.
NOTE:
By default, the cluster selection feature flag is turned off, allowing the user to view and use the default cluster (West Europe-1). To view all the supported cluster details, the cluster selection feature flag must be turned on.

Perform the following steps to select a cluster and create a project in FactoryTalk DataMosaix:
- Click theFactoryTalk DataMosaixtile in FactoryTalk Hub.TheInitial setupwindow is displayed.
- Select the required cluster from theChoose a cluster for your new projectdrop-down list.IMPORTANT:It is recommended to read the following instructions before you choose a cluster for your new project:NOTE:ClickRead more about how to choose clustersto view the Create Project section in the online help documentation.
- Select theI understand that once a new project is created, the cluster choice cannot be changed latercheckbox.
- ClickStart.
The project creation begins.
The following success message is displayed along with the project and cluster name.
After project is created, the following tabs are displayed in FactoryTalk DataMosaix:
- Manage Access- Manage Access tab consist of four subtabs - Members, Roles, Capability Groups and Features. By default, the Members sub-tab is selected and displays the Members Listing page. Members Listing page displays all the members and their roles in the project. As per the tasks, members need to be assigned roles. For example, if a member needs to register an application, the member must be assigned to the Data Scientist role. - Extractor Info- Currently, no extractors are visible. A member needs to register an extractor and generate credentials. These credentials must be added in the configuration file. For more information on registering an extractor, refer Register Extractor.
- Applications- Currently, no applications are visible. A member needs to register an application and generate credentials. These credentials must be configured before running the application for data visualization. For more information on registering applications, refer Register Application.
- Modeling- Currently, no models are visible. ClickBuildto create a model. For more information on creating assets, refer Asset Creation.
On creation of a project, when you click the
Main DataMosaix
icon, you navigate to Cognite Data Fusion (CDF). When you log in to CDF, you can see the project created in DataMosaix is provisioned in CDF. You can continue to perform further operations on the data in FactoryTalk DataMosaix.Provide Feedback
