Configuration Tab 1756-OF6CI, -OF6VI, floating point
Use this tab to configure the 1756-OF6CI and 1756-OF6VI isolated, floating point, analog output modules.
On this tab, you can:
- select the channel you want to configure
- enter scaling information
- enter a calibration bias value
- choose to cause the module hold the output signal unchanged until the output value received from the controller is within 0.1% of full scale of value being heldTIP:The module’s configuration information is stored in the controller and the controller configures the module.
Parameters
Channel
Select one of the channel buttons to display its information on the Configuration tab.
Scaling
- Low SignalEnter a low scaling value in module signal units, volts for 1756-OF6VI or milliamps for 1756-OF6CI. You must set this output point within the module default signal range, -10 to 10 V for 1756-OF6VI or 0 to 20 ma for 1756-OF6CI. This value is scaled to the Low Engineering value.
- Low EngineeringEnter a value in user engineering units to which the Low Signal should be scaled. All values sent to/from the module are in engineering units.
- High SignalEnter a high scaling value in module signal units, volts for 1756-OF6VI or milliamps for 1756-OF6CI. You must set this output point within the module default signal range, -10 to 10 V for 1756-OF6VI or 0 to 20 ma for 1756-OF6CI. This value is scaled to the High Engineering value.
- High EngineeringEnter a value in user engineering units to which the High Signal should be scaled. All values sent to/from the module are in engineering units.
Output Range
Select the output range of your analog output module:
- -10 to 10V
- 0 - 20mATIP:The module’s configuration information is stored in the controller and the controller configures the module.
Calibration Bias
Enter an offset value. This value is added to the output during the calibration calculation to compensate for inaccuracies of the sensor. These modules are isolated to avoid interactions between channels.
Hold for Initialization checkbox
Select this box to cause the module to hold the output signal unchanged until the output value received from the controller is within 0.1% of full scale of the value being held. The output will hold when:
- Power-up occurs (holds at zero)
- A new connection is established (brings it out of fault state and it holds at the fault value from the previous configuration)
- The controller returns to Run mode after Program mode (continues to hold at the configured value that was held in Program mode, see the Output State tab)
The output channel holding allows the controller to synchronize with the output, enabling smooth output transitions and avoiding rapid transients when control resumes from an interruption. The PID instruction has a bumpless restart feature built-in enabling the use of Hold for Initialization.
The output can be ramping to the configured hold value when the transition occurs. In this case, it continues the ramp until it completes or until the output value from the controller is within the 0.1% of the output signal. When the Hold for Initialization box is not checked, the output switches as quickly as possible to the first value commanded by the controller.
OK
Select this button to accept your edits on any tab and close the dialog.
Cancel
Select this button to cancel your edits on any tab and close the dialog.
Apply
Select this button to apply your edits on any tab and continue editing.
If:
- You are online in Program, Remote Program or Remote Run mode and,
- This controller is the owner controller and,
- You have changed the module’s configuration in the software,
when you select the Apply or the OK button, the information is automatically sent to the controller. The controller tries to send the information to the module (if the module’s connection is not inhibited). If you don’t select Apply, your changes are not sent to the controller.
