Fault/Idle Action 1797-OB4D
Use this tab to configure the safe state value for the 1797-OB4D FLEX Ex digital module. This tab configures the behavior of outputs and is not available for modules that do not have outputs.
Parameters
Communication Fault Behavior
Select the way in which you want the adapter to respond when a communication fault occurs with this module. Choose from:
- Apply Local Module Safe State - Applies the on-module Safe State value.Tip:You must define this value through the controller tags.
- Apply Safe State to Outputs - Sets the output signals to the values configured as Safe State values.
- Hold Last Outputs - Retains the module output data in its last state.
Program Mode Behavior
Select the way in which you want the adapter to respond when it detects Program mode (idle).
Tip: | When the adapter is receiving real time output data from the controller the module is in Run mode. When the adapter is not receiving real time output data from the controller and if there is a communications fault the module operates in fault mode. Under any other conditions it is in Run mode The controller mode during which logic is executing, inputs are read, the program is scanned, and the outputs are energized and de-energized. Editing operations are restricted. If the keyswitch is in Remote, the controller is in Remote Run mode. Program mode The controller mode during which logic is not executing, outputs are not controlled, and editing operations are available. If the keyswitch is in Remote, the controller is in Remote Program mode. |
Choose from:
- Apply Local Module Safe State - Applies the on-module Safe State value provided on the Fault/Idle Action tab for the channel (default value).
- Apply Safe State to Outputs - Sets the output signals to the values configured as Safe State values.
- Hold Last Outputs - Retains the module output data in its last state.
Safe State Value
Select On or Off for each point. The default value is Off.
Tip: | You cannot use this feature unless you select the Apply Local Module Safe State or Apply Safe State to Outputs in the Communications Fault Behavior or the Program Mode Behavior boxes. |

If:
- you are online in Program, Remote Program or Remote Run mode and,
- this controller is the owner controller and, controllerA device that controls machines or processes elements (for example, a programmable controller or relay panel).
- you have changed the module’s configuration in the software,
when you click the Apply or the OK button, the information is automatically sent to the controller. The controller tries to send the information to the module (if the connection to the module is not inhibited). If you don’t click the Apply or OK button, your changes are not sent to the controller.
Tip: | The connection to a FLEX I/O module using Rack communication cannot be inhibited. The Inhibit check box on the Connection tab is disabled in this case. |
