Localization File
Use the localization file to add translations of project documentation to the file itself.
IMPORTANT:
The localization file is a tool used to enter translations into a project that already has been documented in a key language through other means, such as,
Logix Designer
application editing, CSV/TSV import, L5K import, L5X import. It is not a tool to document an entirely undocumented project.The format of the localization file is described below.
Item | Description |
---|---|
Header | Header information is located at the top of the file. The header provides an overview of the file’s contents, as well as information about the origins of the file. Some usage information is also provided to ensure the integrity of the file throughout the translation process. All file comments are preceded by a # symbol. The sections of the header information are described below. |
Title | The title of the localization file. The title is the first line of the localization file. The title is Logix Designer Project Documentation Localization File. |
Source | Identifies the origin of the localization file. The Source appears below the title. The source project name is included on the Source line. |
Date | The time and date the localization file was generated. |
Version | The revision number of the localization file format |
Options | Displays an enumeration of options used for the export |
Translation Area | Used to translations of project documentation contained in the key language column. The translation area is pre-populated with column headers to help eliminate any question as to where to enter specific textual translations. What displays in the translation area varies based on which of the following options you chose in the Export Wizard (Localize To section). |
Do Not Include Project Context | If you chose not to include project context, then the translation area of the localization file contains project documentation from one key language to one or more target languages. The documentation itself is the unique identifier in this case. Select here for more information about including or not including project context. |
Warning | Identified by the symbol ** before and after the warning, you are warned not to change the content of the KEY column in order to ensure a successful import of the content. |
Translation Row Column Headers | The column headers for the various translation columns are filled in automatically based on the choices you made in the Export Wizard. The columns are formatted as:

Translation Row | Each row below the column header contains a string in the key language and a cell for each of the languages for translating the key language. |
