DC Bus page

Use the settings on the
DC Bus
page to configure DC Bus functionality for a regenerative converter. Use the page to:
  • Configure the load capacitance of the DC Bus.
  • Configure the total system capacitance of the DC Bus.
TIP: To open the DC Bus page:
  1. In the
    Controller Organizer
    , expand the
    Motion Groups
    folder, and double-click an axis.
  2. From the
    Axis Properties
    dialog box, in
    Categories
    , click
    General
    .
  3. In the
    Axis Configuration
    box, select
    Regenerative AC/DC Converter
    or
    Low Harmonic AC/DC Converter
    .
  4. In
    Categories
    , click
    DC Bus
    .
The
DC Bus
page is available when, on the
General
page, the
Axis Configuration
is set to
Regenerative AC/DC Converter
or
Low Harmonic AC/DC Converter
.
Parameter
Description
External Bus Capacitance
Specifies the external DC Bus capacitance when the associated converter or drive is acting as a Bus Master, supplying DC Bus power to one or more common bus followers.
This value is also applicable to standalone converters that allow connection to an external capacitor.
The default is 0.0 Microfarads symbolf.
Converter Bus Capacitance
Shows the bus capacitance of the regenerative converter.
Total Bus Capacitance
Specifies the combined capacitance of the regenerative converter and external DC Bus capacitance.
The default is 0.0 Microfarads symbolf.
System Capacitance
Specifies the total system capacitance of the DC Bus. This scaling gain value converts voltage rate commanded by the bus voltage control loop into equivalent active current, expressed as a percent of the converter’s current rating.
The default is 0.0 %Rated (Volts/s)
This parameter is only available when the
Converter Configuration
on the
General
page is set to
Bus Voltage Control
.
