Connection Management
When managing connections, keep the following in mind about connection conservation:
- Digital modules only make one connection at a time.
- The controller has some fixed and limited capacity:
- Connections to I/O modules use connections.
- Controller to Controller communications use connections.
- Produced and consumed tags use connections. (each consumer consumes one connection in the producing controller)
- Some modules (e.g., 1756-CNB[R], - ENBT, etc.) have some limitation on their connection capacity.
- You can reduce connections by using Rack Optimization for remote digital modules. This feature allows several modules to share one rack connection with the parent 1756-CNB[R] module.
