Device Setup

The
Device setup
Tool allows you to discover and configure devices on a local network.
NOTE: In certain scenarios, the utilization of this Tool may be necessitated for the device registration to a domain. Furthermore, its behavior might differ depending on the device type and firmware version.

Stratix 4300
®
featuring a firmware version older than or equal to 4.0.2

  1. Access FactoryTalk Remote Access Manager and select
    Tools
    Device setup
    .
  2. On the
    Device setup
    dialog window, select the first option:
    Stratix 4300 featuring a firmware version older than or equal to 4.0.2
    .
    NOTE: A pop-up message may appear asking for permission to open the Tool. Before confirming, you can check
    Always allow
    to prevent this message from prompting again during this session. If you use a different computer or a different browser, this message will prompt again.
  3. In the dialog window, enter the
    Admin
    user's password.
    NOTE: These credentials are the same that you use to access the device System Manager, and the default password for an admin user is
    admin
    . Refer to the device User Manual to learn more about System Manager. See https://literature.rockwellautomation.com/.
    A new dialog window appears. It displays the MAC addresses of the routers in your local network that have a password matching the one specified.
  4. Select a router MAC address from the list and click
    Configure
    to set the LAN IP address. Then you can access the device System Manager to set up other parameters.

Stratix 4300

  1. Access FactoryTalk Remote Access Manager and select
    Tools
    Device setup
    .
  2. On the
    Device setup
    dialog window, select the second option:
    Stratix 4300 featuring a firmware version newer than 4.0.2
    .
    NOTE: A pop-up message may appear which asks for permission to open the Tool. Before confirming, you can check
    Always allow
    to prevent this message from prompting again during this session. If you use a different computer or a different browser, this message will prompt again.
  3. A discovery window appears. Select
    Discover
    to list all the devices on the local network that are in an
    Unconfigured
    state (factory default setting) or that were already configured.
    The
    Discovered devices
    list displays the
    Model
    ,
    Serial Number
    ,
    Eth2:WAN IP address
    ,
    Eth1:LAN IP address
    and
    Status
    of each device.
  4. If you select the row of a device in an
    Unconfigured
    state, you can then open System Manager by selecting
    Device Setup
    or set the IP address of a LAN interface, and restart.
    If you select the row of a device in a
    Configured
    state, you can open System Manager by selecting
    Device Setup
    .

OptixPanel
featuring a firmware version 4.0.4 or newer

Embedded Edge Compute Module featuring a firmware version 4.0.4 or newer

  1. Access FactoryTalk Remote Access Manager and select
    Tools
    Device setup
    .
  2. On the
    Device setup
    dialog window, select the third option:
    OptixPanel or Embedded Edge Compute featuring a firmware version 4.0.4 or newer
    .
    NOTE: A pop-up message may appear which asks for permission to open the Tool. Before confirming, you can check
    Always allow
    to prevent this message from prompting again during this session. If you use a different computer or a different browser, this message will prompt again.
  3. A discovery window appears. Select
    Discover
    to list all the devices on the local network that are in an
    Unconfigured
    state (factory default setting) or that were already configured.
    The
    Discovered devices
    list displays the
    Model
    ,
    Serial Number
    ,
    Eth2:WAN IP address
    ,
    Eth1:LAN IP address
    and
    Status
    of each device.
  4. If you select the row of a device in an
    Unconfigured
    state, you can then open System Manager by selecting
    Device Setup
    or set the IP address of a LAN interface, and restart.
