Create a definition from a modified instance

Follow these steps to create a definition from a modified instance.
IMPORTANT: Modifying FactoryTalk Smart Objects using the Code Editor may result in syntax errors that will prevent the explorers from displaying information. We recommend using the user interface to create or modify FactoryTalk Smart Objects.
  1. On the explorer bar, select
    System
    .
  2. Right-click a
    FactoryTalk Smart Object
     and select
    Add to Library
    .
  3. In
    New
    FactoryTalk Smart Object
     definition
    , complete:
    • Name
      . A name for the definition.
    • Description
      . An optional description for the definition.
    • Version number
      . The version number is XXX.YYY.ZZZ where each segment can be 0...999.
  4. Select
    Create
    .
