Choose Firmware Revision dialog box settings

Use the
Choose Firmware Revision
dialog box to update the firmware and select the firmware revision for a controller or motion module.
TIP:
If utilizing the
FactoryTalk Linx
edition and using an older version of ControlFlash, the path may be invalid. Change the communication software edition to
RSLinx Classic
.
These are the settings in the
Choose Firmware Revision
dialog box:
Setting
Description
Module Name
Displays the name of the target module. This item displays:
  • The actual module name, or
  • <None> if there is no name available (that is, no project loaded in the controller), or
  • <Unknown> if there was an error reading the name (that is, the
    Logix Designer
    application does not recognize the revision of the device, and is unable to determine whether there is a project in the controller)
Type
Displays the type of the target module.
Serial Number
Displays the serial number of the target module.
Revision
Displays the current firmware revision of the target module.
Comm Path
Displays the current communications path used to communicate with the target module.
Look for Firmware Update Files In
The directory containing the available updates. Select a recent selections from the list, or an click the
Browse
button to navigate to the appropriate directory.
Browse
Used to navigate to the directory that stores the firmware updates.
Revision
Displays the revision number of the corresponding firmware update. Note that only those updates which are compatible with the connected module are listed in this table.
This list is sorted in descending order, according to revision number, such as the latest firmware revision appears at the top of the list.
Update Type
Displays
Upgrade
or
Downgrade
to indicate the type of revision for the selected file, relative to the current module’s firmware revision.
File
Displays the path and file name of the .nvs file for the firmware update. The path is relative to the path selected for
Look for Firmware Update Files In
.
Installed Firmware Update Files Directory
Displays the root of the update directory for the installed firmware update files on the local workstation.
Update
Used to start the flash update.
