Copy and paste components using Paste Special commands

Use the
Paste Special
commands to copy and paste project components in the
Logical Organizer
and the
Controller Organizer
. The
Paste Special
commands are available when copying from the Controller Organizer to the Logical Organizer, or vice versa.
Paste Special With Configuration
pastes a component and its full configuration.
Paste Special Without Connections
pastes a component without any internal connections (a connection within a program or program's descendants) or external connections (connections outside a hierarchy).
TIP:
If FactoryTalk Security is enabled, you need FactoryTalk security permissions to create and delete items in the
Controller Organizer
and the
Logical Organizer
.
To copy and paste using Paste Special commands:
  1. In the
    Controller Organizer
    or the
    Logical Organizer
    , right-click the item that you want to copy and select
    Copy
    .
  2. Right-click the target item in the Organizer, and select a
    Paste Special
    command:
    • Paste Special > With Configuration
      . In the
      Paste Configuration
      dialog box, rename and configure the item before pasting it.
      Use this command to configure and rename a program, Add-On Instruction, User-Defined Data Type, or string before pasting it in the Controller Organizer or the Logical Organizer. You can also use
      Paste Special with Configuration
      when pasting a folder in the Logical Organizer.
    • Paste Special > Without Connections
      . The copied item is pasted into the Organizer without its connections.
      Use this command to paste a program without its parameter connections in the
      Controller Organizer
      or the
      Logical Organizer
      . You can also use
      Paste Special Without Connections
      when pasting a folder in the
      Logical Organizer
      . This is useful when you want to duplicate programs without any internal connections (a connection within a program or program's descendants) or external connections (connections outside a hierarchy).
