PAH variables

Use the
General
tab on the
PAH Properties
dialog box to monitor HART variables and enter virtual HART variables for Process Analog HART (PAH) instructions.
To monitor variables and enter virtual variables for PAH instructions
  1. On the instruction in the routine, perform one of these actions:
    • On the Ladder or FBD instruction, select .
    • In the Structured Text editor, right-click the tag name and select
      Configure <tag name>
      .
  2. Monitor these parameters:
    • HART description
. Description text provided by the HART device.
    • HART tag
. Tag name from the HART device.
    • HART variables
. Display the current values of the HART variables. Use the
      HMI > HART configuration
tab to enter labels for the variables. Use the
      Advanced
tab to select the variables available from the device.
    • Loop current
. The loop current value from the HART device.
    • Device status
. Highlights the status of the HART device.
    • Diagnostic sequence count
. The diagnostic sequence count increments each time a distinct diagnostic condition is detected, each time a distinct diagnostic conditions transitions from detected to not detected, or when the Additional Device Status (HART Command 48) data changes. The count wraps from 127 to -128, and from -1 to 1, skipping zero. It clears to zero when the HART I/O module is reset or power cycled.
      Distinct diagnostic conditions include:
      • A channel fault is detected.
      • A malfunction is reported by the HART device.
      • A loop current mismatch is detected.
      • The MoreStatusAvailable member is set.
  3. Select
    Physical/Virtual
to switch the HART device to physical or virtual mode.
  4. In virtual mode, enter virtual HART variables in the
    Virtual HART variables
    boxes.
  5. When online with the controller, monitor the
    Device state
    and
    Device issues
indicators at the bottom left of the dialog box:
    • Device state
. Displays the current device state, such as
      Live
      ,
      Diagnostic information
      , or
      Maintenance required
      .
    • Device issues
. Displays fault conditions, such as
      HART communication lost
      or
      Module connection fault
      .
  6. Select
    Apply
    .
