PAI thresholds and deadbands for control conditions

Use the
Control limits
tab on the
PAI Properties
dialog box to configure thresholds and deadbands for control limits for Process Analog Input (PAI) instructions.
To configure thresholds and deadbands for control conditions for PAI instructions
  1. On the instruction in the routine, perform one of these actions:
    • On the Ladder or FBD instruction, select .
    • In the Structured Text editor, right-click the tag name and select
      Configure <tag name>
      .
  2. Select the
    Advanced > Control conditions
    tab.
  3. Configure these settings:
    • Condition: Threshold
. For each condition, enter the threshold in engineering units. Set the threshold to the range of the signal connected to the input PV value in engineering units for the High-High, High, Low, and Low-Low range thresholds.
      Use the
      PV units
      box on the
      HMI
tab to label the engineering units.
    • Condition: Deadband
. For each condition, enter the deadband around control High-High, High, Low, and Low-Low range limits. The deadband defines a range above or below the threshold to prevent unwanted rapid switching of the status.
  4. When online with the controller, monitor the
    Device state
    and
    Device issues
indicators at the bottom left of the dialog box:
    • Device state
. Displays the current device state, such as
      PV good
      or
      PV uncertain
      .
    • Device issues
. Displays fault conditions, such as
      PV bad
      or
      Configuration error
      .
  5. Select
    Apply
    .
