PAID limits, quality, selection settings

Use the
Advanced
tab on the
Properties
dialog box for Process Dual Sensor Analog Input (PAID) instructions to configure settings for monitoring the input and signal for the sensor process variables (PV). If a PV is bad, failed, or out or range, the other PV is automatically selected.
To configure limits, quality, and selection settings for PAID instructions
  1. On the instruction in the routine, perform one of these actions:
    • On the Ladder or FBD instruction, select .
    • In the Structured Text editor, right-click the tag name and select
      Configure <tag name>

  2. Select the
    Advanced
    tab.
  3. Configure these settings:
    Setting
    Description
    PV fail high
    Enter the high limit for input. Input above this limit is reported as poor quality.
    Deadband
    Enter the deadband for the high and low fail limits.
    Use the deadband to select an error range above and below the limits when a failure is not reported. The deadband prevents unwanted rapid switching of the status.
    PV fail low
    Enter the low limit for input. Input below this limit is reported as poor quality.
    PV Max
    Enter the maximum value for display of the PV. Values above this maximum are not displayed.
    PV Min
    Enter the minimum value for display of the PV. Values below this minimum are not displayed.
    PV source and quality: Generate source and quality
    Select the buttons for inputs A and B to evaluate the input signals.
    PV source and quality: Pass through connected channel's source and quality value
    Select the buttons to pass through the input source and quality values without evaluation.
    Allow PV selection by:
    • Operator
    • Program
    • External
    Select the check boxes to allow an operator, the program, or an external control to select the PV.
  4. When online with the controller, monitor the
    Device state
    and
    Device issues
    indicators at the bottom left of the dialog box:
    • Device state
      . Displays the current device status: PV good, PV uncertain, or PV bad.
    • Device issues
      . Displays fault conditions: None, Fail, or Configuration error.
  5. Select
    Apply
    .
