Source key protection:
  • Protects components using existing source keys.
  • You can optionally allow source-protected components to be available in a read-only format on a system that does not have the source key required for access.
    IMPORTANT:
The source key name is used to further protect the value of the source key.
    • If you assign a name to a source key using the
      Apply Source Key
dialog box, the source key name is displayed on the
      Source Key Configuration
      dialog box and the
      Apply Source Key
dialog box instead of the source key.
    • If you do not assign a name to the source key, some of the source key characters are masked in the user interface.
    • If the source key is not available,
      Unknown Source Key
is displayed on the user interface.
License Source Protection:
  • Protects components with specific licenses.
Execution protection:
  • Protects components so that they can be executed only on a controller that contains the required Execution license.
    TIP:
Execution Protection and component locking is supported only on
    CompactLogix
    5380,
    CompactLogix
    5480, and
    ControlLogix
5580 controllers in this version of the
    Logix Designer
    application.
