Failed to configure broadcast message with selected message type

The selected message type in the Message Configuration Dialog Box - Configuration Tab Overview is not compatible with broadcast messages. Because broadcast messages are sent to receiving controllers, only Write message types can be used with broadcast messages.
NOTE: Logix Designer versions 37 and later do not support controllers with serial ports. The
Broadcast
 button and the
System Protocol
 tab appear only in Logix Designer versions 36 and earlier for controllers with a serial port.
To choose a Write message type for broadcast messages:
  1. Click the Configuration tab in the Message Configuration dialog box.
  2. From the Message Type pull-down menu, choose one of the following.
    • CIP Generic
    • CIP Data Table Write
    • PLC-2
       Unprotected Write
    • PLC-2
       Typed Write
    • PLC-2
       Word Range Write
    • PLC-2
       Typed Write
    • PLC-2
       Word Range Write
    • SLC
       Typed Write
