Examples of download process warning messages
You may see warning messages during the download process, depending on the mode of the controller, the keyswitch position, and whether there are motion axes in the controller. The following are examples of warning messages that may appear.
Controller Image Stored in Removable Memory Card Might Be Out of Date Following Download
You see this message if you have removable memory card installed. After the download, your memory image may be out of date. If you do not update the contents of the memory, you could be running old logic following a power up or corrupt memory condition.
Controller Mode Will be Changed to Remote Program
The controller must be in Program or Remote Program mode in order to download. If it is in Remote Run or Test mode, the
Logix Designer
application changes the mode to Remote Program before downloading. After the download, you are prompted to change the mode back to the original mode.Devices Maintain Independent Configuration
There may be devices in this project whose configuration is not established as part of the download to the controller.
- If the project contains any drives, while online, you must open the properties for each drive and verify that the drive has been loaded properly with the desired configuration.
- If the project contains any devices that have been configured using software other than theLogix Designerapplication, the configuration of these devices must be verified using the appropriate software.
Keyswitch Must Be Moved to REM or PROG
You see this message if the keyswitch is in the RUN position. The controller must be in Program or Remote Program mode before downloading, but the
Logix Designer
application cannot remotely change the mode if the keyswitch is in RUN. When you see this message, the Download button is disabled until you move the keyswitch out of RUN. You can then proceed with the download.Servo Axes Will be Turned Off
The Programmed Stop Mode configuration specifies how a moving axis is to be stopped when the Logix processor's operating mode is changed. The controller does not reach the new operating mode until all moving servo axes have stopped according to the configured Programmed Stop mode. In some cases though, it may be possible that when the controller is changed to Program mode prior to a download, motion continues, even during download due to the deactivation of the associated drive. When a servo axis is turned off, servo action is disabled, and the associated Drive Enable signal is deactivated. This de-energizes the drive. For a detailed description of this and related servo axis behavior, refer to the SERCOS and Analog Motion Configuration and Startup User Manual, publication MOTION-UM001.
Time Synchronization is Disabled
The project you are attempting to download to the controller does not have time synchronization enabled, but the I/O modules in your configuration require it. If time synchronization remains disabled, the axes in the motion group will not function and the time-based functions of the I/O modules may not be accurate.
- If you want to enable time synchronization, select theEnable Time Synchronizationcheck box at the bottom of the dialog box and clickDownload.
This Controller is the System Master. Servo Axes in Synchronized Controllers May Be Turned Off
The project you are attempting to download to the controller does not have time synchronization enabled. When online, the controller no longer is the system master and servo axes in any controller synchronized with this controller may be turned off.
- If you want this controller to become the system master, select theEnable Time Synchronizationcheck box at the bottom of the dialog box and clickDownload.
- If another controller is the system master, clickDownloadto continue the download process.
- For a Safety controller project, at least one module in the local rack must be the CST master. Otherwise, the controller to which this project is targeted faults when it attempts to enter into Run mode.
