Setting
Description
Save in
Specify the directory in which to save this project or in which to export the project.
File name
Enter the name for the saved or exported file.
Save as type
Choose the type of file to save or the file to export:
  • Logix Designer
    Project File (*.ACD)
    .ACD
The file extension used for project files created by the
    Logix Designer
    application.
  • Logix Designer
    Import-Export File (*.L5K)
    .L5K
A file format used for text files imported and exported by the
    Logix Designer
application. An .L5K file contains an ASCII representation of the data for an entire project and, when imported, creates a new project file or overwrites an existing project file. This is in contrast to the .CSV.
The file extension for this format must be .L5K; if you change the extension using a tool like the Windows Explorer, the
    Logix Designer
application is not able to import this file.
  • Logix Designer
    Import-Export File (*.L5X)
    .L5X
The .L5X file is structured using Extensible Markup Language (XML) tags. In addition to being able to open and modify the .L5X file in a text editor, such as Notepad, you can also view the contents of the file in Microsoft Internet Explorer and other tools that work with XML files.
You can import and export a project by exporting ladder rungs (including the referenced tags and data types), trends, User-defined Data Types, Add-On Instructions, programs, equipment phases, and routines to an .L5X file and importing it into the required project.
Encode Protected Content
Exports protected content in encoded format. Routines and Add-On Instructions can be exported in an encoded format when protected with
FactoryTalk Security
and/or Source Protection.
Enabled when choosing either .L5K or .L5X from the
Save as type
menu, and
Always Encode Protected Content on Export
in the
Workstation Options
dialog box is cleared.
Select to export protected content in an encrypted format, even when source key or other credentials for the content are present. Clear to export protected content in clear text.
TIP:
When exporting a project, only controls the encoded export of protected components, such as routines or Add-On Instructions, that can be exported encoded.
TIP:
Protection permissions (such as permissions configured in
FactoryTalk Security
or Source Protection) can override this selection. When checkbox cleared, the component is still exported encoded even if no permission to export unencoded.
