Choose menus and commands

Commands are listed in menus whose names appear at the top of the window. You can choose commands from a menu by using the mouse or the keyboard.
Command names followed by an ellipsis (...) display an additional dialog or window from which you can choose options or enter data.
Commands with a check mark (Check mark symbol) to the left are commands that toggle on and off. A check mark indicates the command is on; no check mark indicates the command is off.
Commands with key combinations listed to the right have shortcuts. For example, the
Edit > Copy
command lists a shortcut of
Ctrl+C
. To copy you can open the
Edit
menu and choose
Copy
or you can press
Ctrl+C
.
TIP:
If a command is dimmed, that command does not apply at the current time and cannot be selected. For instance, if there is nothing in the Clipboard to paste, the system dims
Paste
on the
Edit
menu.
If you don't want to make a choice after displaying a menu, click the menu name a second time or click anywhere outside the menu.
The Ladder Editor also has an
Undo
command. If you complete a command and then decide to delete the command, check the
Edit
menu for an
Undo
command. You must choose the
Undo
command immediately after completing the command to undo it. In addition, there are
Undo
and
Redo
icons on the icon bar that let you undo or redo a command at a time.
Keyboard shortcuts
You can view menu commands from the keyboard with the
Alt
key. Press the
Alt

Alt

View
menu.
Once the menu is displayed, you can use the keyboard to select the command you want. For instance, if you want to select the Display Options function, first display the

Alt+V
). To select Display Options, press the
