Load a project from nonvolatile memory

Use the
Nonvolatile Memory Load/Store
dialog box to load a project from nonvolatile memory of the controller into RAM memory. Loading from nonvolatile memory overwrites the current controller image.
Before you begin:
  • Verify that the memory card is installed.
  • Secure Digital cards have a lock feature. The card must be unlocked to write data to a Secure Digital card.
    ATTENTION:
During a load, all active servo axes are turned off. Before you load a project, make sure that this will not cause any unexpected movement of an axis.
To load a project:
  1. Go online with the controller and put the controller in
    Program Mode
    .
  2. On the
    Controller Properties
    dialog box, click the
    Nonvolatile Memory
    tab, and then click
    Load/Store
    . The
    Load/Store
    button is unavailable when the:
    • Nonvolatile memory is not present in the controller.
    • Another user has locked the controller.
    • Controller has redundancy enabled.
  3. Verify that the image in nonvolatile memory is the project you want to load.
  4. Select
    Load
    . The
    Load
dialog box appears, prompting you to confirm the load.
  5. Select
    Yes
    .
  6. For safety applications, you are prompted to unlock the safety application if:
    • The nonvolatile memory image and the controller are safety locked but the safety signatures do not match.
    • The controller is safety locked.
To start the load operation, select
      Unlock
. If the unlock is unsuccessful, the
      Nonvolatile Memory Load/Store
dialog box displays an error message.
If the load is unsuccessful, an error message appears.
  7. Once the load is complete, select
    OK
    .
    TIP:
For safety applications, the controller's safety lock passwords and signature will always be set to the nonvolatile memory values after a successful memory load.
