Rockwell Automation, Inc. (NYSE: ROK), the world’s largest company dedicated to industrial automation and digital transformation, today announced that its Katowice plant has won the Factory of the Future 2022 award, conferred by The Future Industry Platform, a Polish governmental foundation.
The award, judged by a panel of government departments, external agencies, and trade bodies, is one of the largest and most prestigious Industry 4.0 events in Poland. Companies are rigorously assessed and rated across seven categories, including: advanced manufacturing technologies, smart production, digital and ecological capabilities, and their focus on employees and customers. Only those with a rating of at least four out of five in each category progress.
This year 29 companies qualified, with only 16 making it to the second phase. Rockwell’s Katowice plant was then the subject of a nine-hour audit and two plant tours before a panel of 12 expert assessors bestowed the award on the factory.
Dominik Kuna, plant manager at the Katowice plant, explains: “This was a cross-functional success story, with all teams at Katowice playing their part in the win. We tell our customers that people and technology must work in harmony for Industry 4.0 to work effectively, and here we are, doing just that, in our own factory. Everyone is so proud of this award.”
Mateusz Hanisz, EMEA manager, supply chain business systems, Rockwell Automation, adds: “This award has created a fascinating shop window for our customers, as we are using the very technology that we supply to them for their own digital transformations. It has worked incredibly well for us and will do the same for them. People can really benefit from our real-world experiences.”
This is the second time the competition has run, but in 2021 there was no outright winner. The official award ceremony will take place in late March.
Susana Gonzalez, president, Rockwell Automation EMEA, concludes: “Our plant in Katowice is an important part of our global operations and shows how we bring the Connected Enterprise to life. We implement our technology and solutions in our own floor, and we are looking forward to welcoming employees and customers to showcase our tools on digital transformation in a discrete manufacturing environment.”
