Removing an Add-On Instruction Signature

If a signature exists for an Add-On Instruction, the Generate button changes to a Remove button, since there can be only one signature per instruction.
To remove a signature (also known as unsealing an instruction):
  1. Note the following.
    • You must be offline to perform this procedure.
    • The button is enabled only when offline.
    • A safety Add-on Instruction cannot be unsealed if the project is safety-locked or has a safety task signature.
      safety task signature
Consists of the ID, Date, and Time values corresponding to the validation of the Safety controller project. The date and time values correspond to when the signature was generated. The ID is a unique value calculated by the controller over the memory contents at the time the signature is generated. When a Safety signature exists, there are editing restrictions similar to when the Safety application is in a Locked state.
    • An instruction can be unsealed whether it is verified or not.
  2. To remove an instruction signature, select the
    Remove
    button.
    • Answer Yes to the prompt "Remove instruction signature?" Note the following:
    • Answering Yes unseals the Add-On Instruction, removes the signature and updates the Last Edit Date. If it is a safety Add-On Instruction, the Safety Signature ID (safety instruction signature) is also removed when the Add-On Instruction is unsealed.
    • Answering No cancels the operation.
    • The Add-On Instruction can only be modified when unsealed.
  3. Select OK and save the project.
    IMPORTANT:
The Remove signature action is lost (with all unsaved edits) if the project is not saved.
