Failed to configure alarm message or associated tag

Problem attempting to configure the alarm message or associated tag. The error message indicates one of these conditions:
Associated tag not found
Entered an
Associated Tag
 name that is not configured.To resolve this problem perform one:
  • Select an existing tag name from the tag browser list, or
  • Click
    New Tag
     to create the desired associated tag.
Associated tag data type not supported
Associated Tag
 is a non-supported data type. Valid associated tags are an atomic data type (BOOL, DINT, SINT, INT, LINT, or REAL) or a STRING.
Associated tags may be members of a structure, such as a UDT or Array, but they may not have a variable array reference. May not include members of non-supported data types, such as a member of an alarm tag or a message tag.
Alarm Message exceeded 512 characters
Alarm message exceeds the maximum alarm message length. The maximum alarm message length is 512 characters, including the characters used to specify embedded variables.
Associated tag specifier invalid
Associated Tag has an invalid tag specifier.
Specifying individual bits within a LINT tag is not supported.
