Copy items in the Logical Organizer

There are two ways to copy items in the
Logical Organizer
:
  • Drag-and-drop an item on the parent of the item. When you drop the item on its parent item, a copy of the item appears under that parent item. If the dragged item has any descendant items, they are copied as well. The copied item becomes a sibling item to the original dragged item.
  • CTRL+drag-and-drop an item anywhere it is legal to make a copy of the item in the Logical Organizer. When you drop the item on a target, the copied item appears under that target. You can also insert the copied item between two targets by dropping it between the targets when the cursor changes to the green line insert cursor.
When you copy an item:
  • An integer is added to the item name to uniquely identify it. For example, if you make copies of Prog001, the copies are named Prog0011, Prog0012, Prog0013, and so on.
  • Routines are renamed only if they are copied to the same parent item.
  • If you copy items to a different project in a different copy of the Logix Designer application, the items are renamed only if there is a conflict with the name of existing items in the different project.
  • When you create new programs by copying in the Logical Organizer, the new programs also appear in the Controller Organizer under
    Unscheduled Programs / Phases
    .
You can select multiple items to copy. The copy operation proceeds if at least one item is legal to copy (only the legal items are copied). An error message is logged if one or more of the selected items cannot be copied. If none of the selected items can be copied, the NOT cursor appears when over the target item.
