Alarm conditions for PDO
Use the
Alarms
tab on the PDO Properties
dialog box to set the values that define alarm conditions for Process Discrete Output (PDO) instructions.Define alarm conditions for PDO instructions
- On the instruction in the routine, perform one of these actions:
- On the Ladder or FBD instruction, select .
- In the Structured Text editor, right-click the tag name and selectConfigure <tag name>.
- SelectAlarms.
- Set the parameters:
- Use. Select the check box to put the alarm in use. Alarm driving conditions are not evaluated when the alarm is not in use. TheUsecheck box is synchronized with theUse and evaluate alarmcheck box in theAlarm Propertiesdialog box.
- Alarm.Type the label to be displayed for the alarm.
- Edit button. Select to open theAlarm Propertiesdialog box for an alarm.
- Apply following settings to all alarms. Select the check box to apply settings (Class, Alarm group, FactoryTalk View command) to all pre-defined alarms for the instruction. It is important to add information to all three settings when applying alarms. If one of the settings is empty, the settings are cleared in all alarms. When changes are applied, the settings and the check box are cleared.
- Class. Use classes to group related alarms. The class applies to all alarms defined for the instruction including pre-defined and user-defined alarms. Use the class only to filter the alarms that are displayed to the operator. The class is case-sensitive.
- Alarm group. Assigns all pre-defined alarms for the instruction a group name to help classify and sort alarms.
- FactoryTalk View command. AFactoryTalk Viewcommand that can be run on the operator station when the alarm notification appears. Type the exact syntax for theFactoryTalk Viewcommand. The command applies to all pre-defined alarms for the instruction.
- Allow operator to shelve alarms. Select the check box to allow the operator to shelve alarms.
- Allow maintenance to disable alarms. Select the check box to allow maintenance to disable alarms.
- View the read-only parameters:
- State. The state of the alarm. Hover over the state icon to see a tool tip that describes the alarm state or fault status.An alarm can be in more than one state at a time. For example, an alarm can be in alarm, acknowledged, and suppressed; or normal, unacknowledged, and suppressed.Alarm state icons include:
- Normal, acknowledged (no icon).
- Normal, unacknowledged -
- In alarm, acknowledged -
- In alarm, unacknowledged -
- Suppressed -
- Shelved -
- Disabled -
- Alarm fault -
- Device state. When theLogix Designerapplication is online with the controller, the indicator displays the current device state, such as Off, Pulse on, or Out of service.
- Device issues.When theLogix Designerapplication is online with the controller, the indicator displays fault conditions, such as Feedback fault or I/O fault.
- SelectApply.
