PPID loop settings

Use the
Loop mode
tab on the
PPID Properties
dialog box to configure loop settings for Process Proportional + Integral + Derivative (PPID) instructions.
To configure loop settings for PPID instructions
  1. On the instruction in the routine, perform one of these actions:
    • On the Ladder or FBD instruction, select .
    • In the Structured Text editor, right-click the tag name and select
      Configure <tag name>
      .
  2. Under
    Advanced
    , select the
    Loop mode
    tab.
  3. Configure these settings:
    • Allow auto loop mode
      . Enables Auto loop mode.
    • Allow manual loop mode
      . Enables Manual loop mode.
    • Allow cascade/ratio loop mode
. Enables Cascade loop mode. Select the Cascade loop mode to us:
      • Cascade
. Selects regular Cascade loop mode.
      • Ratio
. Selects Cascade loop mode for Ratio.
    • Go to manual loop mode on initialization
. Sets the loop mode to manual when the PPID instruction is initialized.
    • Lock in normal loop mode
. Locks the loop in the mode configured as Normal.
    • Normal loop mode
. Select the Normal loop mode:
      Disabled
      ,
      Manual
      ,
      Auto
      , or
      Cascade
      .
    • PV fail response on
. Select the conditions that trigger a PV fail status response on PV quality:
      • PV bad
      • PV bad or replaced
      • PV bad, replaced, or uncertain
    • Power up loop mode
. Select the loop mode for power-up:
      • Use the last loop mode applied
      • Manual
      • Auto
      • Cascade
      • Normal
    • Power up CV value
. Sets the CV value in CV engineering units to be applied during power-up. Use the
      HMI
tab to label the unit values.
    • Power up SP value
. Set the SP value in PV engineering units to be applied during power-up. Use the
      HMI
tab to label the unit values.
  4. When online with the controller, monitor the
    Device state
    ,
    Device issues
    , and
    Device mode
indicators at the bottom left of the dialog box:
    • Device state
      . When the
      Logix Designer
application is online with the controller, displays the current device state, such
      SP ramping
      or
      CV held
      .
    • Device issues
      . When the
      Logix Designer
application is online with the controller, displays fault conditions, such as
      PV uncertain
      ,
      SP fail
      , or
      Configuration error
      .
    • Device mode
      . When the
      Logix Designer
application is online with the controller, displays the current device mode:
