PRI status and functionality

Use the
General
tab of the
PRI Properties
dialog box to view the status and functionality of the Process Restart Inhibit for Large Motor (PRI) instruction, and enter configured values.
To view the status and functionality of PRI instructions
  1. On the instruction in the routine, perform one of these actions:
    • On the Ladder or FBD instruction, select .
    • In the Structured Text editor, right-click the tag name and select
      Configure <tag name>
      .
  2. View or change the values in these boxes:
    TIP: Use the
    Parameters
    tab on the
    PRI Properties
dialog box to enter PRI instruction parameters.
    PRI_PropertiesDialog_General_v33
    Parameter
    1
Time for a stopped hot motor to become cold (hours). Sets or displays the current value for the
    Cfg_HotToCold
    parameter.
    2
Time within which three starts are allowed if the motor is cold (hours). Sets or displays the current value for the
    Cfg_ThreeColdStarts
    parameter.
    Tip
: Hot start and cold start refer to the temperature of the motor when starting. Hot start is usually a restart after coasting to a stop. Cold start is an initial start after the motor has cooled.
    3
The time the cold motor waits after first start failure (hours). Sets or displays the current value for the
    Cfg_FirstFailCold
    parameter.
    4
The time the cold motor waits after second and subsequent start failure before ready (hours). Sets or displays the current value for the
    Cfg_SubSeqFailCold
    parameter.
    5
Time for hot motor to wait after first start failure before ready to start (hours). Sets or displays the current value for the
    Cfg_FirstFailHot
    parameter.
    6
Time for hot motor to wait after second and subsequent start failure before ready (hours). Sets or displays the current value for the
    Cfg_SubSeqFailHot
    parameter.
    7
Time for hot motor to wait after stop if stopped before Hot Restart OK time (hours). Sets or displays the current value for the
    Cfg_HotRestartOK
    parameter.
    8
Time for hot motor to run so it can immediately restart after stop (hours). Sets or displays the current value for the
    Cfg_RestartHot
    parameter.
  3. Monitor these instruction indicators:
    • State
. Indicates the current state of the restart inhibit instruction. These are the possible states:
      • Cool Ready to Start
      • Cool Start Check
      • Running Cool
      • Cool First Fail
      • Cool Subsequent Fail
      • Hot Start Check
      • Running Hot
      • Restart Delay
      • Hot First Fail
      • Hot Subsequent Fail
      • Hot Ready to Start
    • Time until ready to start
. The minutes and seconds the motor is inhibited before ready to start.
    • Stopped: Ready to start
. The motor is cold or hot, but ready to start.
    • Checking
. A cold or hot motor start attempt is made.
Hot start and cold start refer to the temperature of the motor when starting. Hot start is a start after several previous starts in quick succession. Cold start is an initial start after the motor has cooled.
    • Waiting
. A hot or cold motor fails to start for the first time, or the hot or cold motor fails to start at least twice in a row since it ran properly.
    • First fail
. A hot or cold motor fails to start for the first time since it ran properly.
    • Subsequent fail
. A hot or cold motor fails to start at least twice in a row since it ran properly.
    • Restart delay
. A hot motor stops before the hot restart Ok time elapses.
    • Running cool
      . A cold motor starts.
    • Running hot
      . A hot motor starts.
  4. When online with the controller, monitor the
    Device state
    and
    Device issues
indicators at the bottom left of the dialog box:
    • Device state
. Displays the current device state:
      Ready
, or the number of minutes until ready.
    • Device issues
      . Displays fault conditions:
      None
      or
      Configuration error <error>
      .
  5. Select
    Apply
    .
