Add and assign devices

To add devices
:
  1. To add devices to a parent device, right-click the Ethernet Bus or Backplane and select
    Add device
    .
  2. Use the
    Category filter
     to select the device categories that you want to add to the project.
  3. Select the catalog number and use
    Devices to add
     section on the right to increase the number of that device to add to the project.
    TIP: When the Ethernet Bus or Backplane is full, there will be no available devices to select. You can modify the allocation of devices by adjusting the number of devices added to the project or using the trash can to delete devices.
  4. Select
    Continue
    . The
    Assign devices to project
     window opens with the selected devices listed in the
    Pending to configure
     area.
  5. Configure each of the devices in the
    Pending to configure
     list. When all the required fields for each device are configured properly, the
    Finish
     button becomes enabled.
  6. Select
    Finish
     to add the devices to the Ethernet Bus or the Backplane.
To assign devices
:
  1. To assign devices to a parent device, right-click the Ethernet Bus or Backplane of the parent device and select
    Add device
    . The
    Assign devices to
     parent device dialog box opens.
    Catalog
     is the default selection.
    TIP: The catalog grid shows only compatible devices for the Ethernet Bus or Backplane.
  2. Select devices to assign to the Ethernet Bus or Backplane. The
    Devices to assign
     list shows the number of slots or addresses that are available.
  3. Select
    Project
    to select a device from the project to assign to the Ethernet Bus or Backplane. The selected device shows in the
    Devices to assign
     list and the number of slots or addresses that are available.
  4. Select
    Continue
     to assign the selected devices to the Ethernet Bus or Backplane.
  5. The devices added from
    Project
     are read-only. Select
    Finish
     to complete the device assignments.
