Run motor tests and identify motor parameters

Use the
Motor Analyzer
tab to perform three types of test to identify motor parameters. If the test executes successfully and you accept the test values, the values populate the Model Parameters on the
Analyzer
page.
Before you begin:
  • The controller is online.
  • On the
    Motor
    page, set
    Data Source
    to
    Nameplate Datasheet
    and
    Motor Type
    is an Induction or Permanent motor type.
To run motor tests and identify motor parameters:
  1. In the
    Controller Organizer
    , expand the
    Motion Groups
    folder, and double-click an axis.
  2. From the
    Axis Properties
    dialog box, in
    Categories
    , expand the
    Motor
    folder, and then click
    Analyzer
    .
  3. Click the one of these tabs to run the appropriate motor test.
    • Dynamic Motor Test
    • Static Motor Test
    • Calculate Model
      • Ready
      • Executing
      • Failed
      • Passed
  4. Click
    Start
    to start the motor test.
  1. A pending edit dialog box displays if there are edits to make before executing the test. Click
    Yes
    to apply the pending edits. The test does not execute if there are pending edits.

    shows the current execution state of the test. Valid test states include:

    displays informational and error messages depending on the test state.
  1. When the test finishes, the test results show the model parameters, the parameter's current value and the calculated test results value. Click
    Accept Test Results
    to commit the calculated test result values and update the current values with the test result values.
