Controller Properties dialog box - Nonvolatile Memory tab settings

The settings on the
Nonvolatile Memory
tab in the
Controller Properties
dialog box provide access to nonvolatile operations. Some settings are not available for all controller types.
The ability to change the settings on this tab can be controlled by
FactoryTalk Security
permissions.
Parameters
Description
Name
The name of the stored controller image that resides in nonvolatile memory.
Type
The controller type for the image stored in nonvolatile memory. This controller type can be any type that supports nonvolatile memory.
Revision
The firmware revision of the controller when the image in nonvolatile memory was stored. In order for the image in nonvolatile memory to be loaded back into controller memory, the firmware revision of that image must match the revision of the controller.
Load Image
The condition under which the image stored in nonvolatile memory is loaded back to controller memory.
Load Mode
The mode the controller enters upon loading from nonvolatile memory.
Safety Application
The nonvolatile memory safety lock status (locked or unlocked).
Safety Application is available only when online or connected to a controller with a removable memory card that contains a Safety controller application. The Safety Application value is cleared when communication is lost.
Safety Signature
The nonvolatile memory safety Signature status (ID, Date, and Time).
Tip:
Compact GuardLogix
5380 and
GuardLogix
5580 controllers
have a 32 byte ID. Only the first 4 bytes of the ID display
on the tab, click Browse button to view and copy the entire 32 byte ID.
Safety Signature is available only when online or connected to a controller with a removable memory card that contains a Safety controller application.
Browse button
Opens the
Safety Signature ID
dialog box to view and copy the entire 32 byte ID for Compact GuardLogix 5380 and GuardLogix 5580 controllers.
This button is available only when online or connected to a
Compact GuardLogix
5380 or
GuardLogix
5580 controller
with a removable memory card that contains a Safety controller application and a Safety signature exists.
Image Note
Descriptive information that you entered at the time the image was stored in nonvolatile memory.
Stored
The workstation date and time when the image is stored in nonvolatile memory.
Inhibit Automatic Firmware Update
Select to inhibit (disable) the Automatic Firmware Update feature.
The parameter is also available via an SSV/GSV instruction. If you inhibit the feature via an SSV instruction, this check box is selected. If you enable the feature via an SSV instruction, this check box is cleared.
The controller, before initiating the automatic update of modules, checks this parameter and proceeds only if the feature is enabled.
The parameter is available both offline and online, and unavailable if the controller has redundancy enabled on the
Redundancy
tab in the
Controller Properties
dialog box.
Load/Store
Opens the
Nonvolatile Memory Load/Store
dialog box to load or store a project in nonvolatile memory, and to enable Firmware Supervisor. The button is unavailable when:
  • Nonvolatile memory is not present in the controller.
  • Controller is in Run mode.
  • Another user has locked the controller.
  • Controller is offline.
  • The current module redundancy state prevents nonvolatile memory operations.
Status Bar
Shows the reason the
Load/Store
button is unavailable. Only shows one status at a time. Possible status messages:
  • Nonvolatile memory not present
  • Nonvolatile memory not available in the current module redundancy state
  • Controller being edited by another user
  • No controller image or stored controller image
  • Controller not in Program mode
  • Stored image revision in nonvolatile memory does not match controller revision
