PDOSE active command source

Use the
Command Source
tab on the
PDOSE Properties
dialog box to:
  • Select Program, Operator, Operator Locked, External, or Maintenance as the source of commands and settings for the instruction.
  • Set In Service or Out of Service as the command source state. The instruction only accepts device commands and settings from the selected source when the state is In Service.
To select the active command source for PDOSE instructions
  1. On the instruction in the routine, perform one of these actions:
    • On the Ladder or FBD instruction, select .
    • In the Structured Text editor, right-click the tag name and select
      Configure <tag name>
      .
  2. Select the
    Command source
    tab.
    The
    Status
    indicator at the top of the tab:
    • Lists all potential command sources from highest priority on the left to lowest priority on the right.
    • Highlights all requesting command sources in black text.
    • Outlines the current command source for the instruction.
    • When the current command source releases its request, the next active requestor becomes the current command source.
  3. Set and clear command source requests:
    • Online command source request.
      When online, select the command source for the instruction. These commands take effect immediately.
      • Program
        . Select Program as the source of commands and settings for the instruction.
      • Operator.
        Select Operator as the source of commands and settings for the instruction.
      • Operator lock
        . Lock Operator as the command source. When Operator is locked, Program requests from logic are not accepted.
        IMPORTANT:
        Selecting Program when the command source is Operator Locked unlocks Operator and sets the Program command source request.
      • External/Release External.
        Select or release External as the source of commands and settings for the instruction.
      • Maintenance/Release maintenance
        . Select or release Maintenance as the source of commands and settings for the instruction.
      • In service/Out of service
        . Set In Service or Out of Service as the instruction command source state.
  4. Configure exceptions to the command source for four conditions:
    Start and
    stop, Dribble and preact, Setpoint,
    and
    Tolerances
    .
    Select one of these command sources:
    • Follow source
      . The default setting. The current owner maintains control.
    • Only Operator
      . Operator retains control even if Program or External is the current command source.
    • Only Program
      . Program retains control even if Operator or External is the current command source.
    • Only External
      . External retains control even if Operator or Program is the current command source.
  5. When online with the controller, monitor the
    Device state
    and
    Device issues
    indicators at the bottom left of the dialog box:
    • Device state
      . When the
      Logix Designer
      application is online with the controller, displays the current device state: Unknown, Stop, Totalizer run, Flow run, Dribble, Bump, Start flow, Start dribble, Stopping, or Out of service.
    • Device issues
      . When the
      Logix Designer
      application is online with the controller, displays fault conditions: None, Equipment fault, or Configuration error.
  6. Select
    Apply
    .
