Data Context
Use
Data Context
to view all invocations of an Add-On Instruction (AOI) across a project. Data Context provides a list of where each AOI is used, including its fully qualified name and the structure of any AOIs containing it, if it is nested within other AOIs.
IMPORTANT:
If
Data Context
is opened from an online routine, it will only show information about AOI invocations within the online controller. AOIs elsewhere in the project are not shown. To view the data context for offline AOI invocations, open Data Context
from the Library
pane.To open

- In the program ladder diagram, right-click the Add-On Instruction invocation, then select eitherOpen instruction parametersorOpen instruction logic.
- In theAdd-On Instruction Instance TaborAdd-On Instruction Routine Editor, select the drop-down list in the upper right that shows the name of the AOI invocation.
Field or Property | Description |
---|---|
Search | Enter text in the search field to filter the list of AOI invocations by the search term. Results may match any value in any invocation within the list. Results are highlighted in bold. |
Name | The name of the backing tag used in the AOI invocation. |
Tag Scope | The name of the AOI invocation starting from the project to the selected AOI invocation. |
Controller Application | The name of the controller application to which this AOI invocation is assigned. |
Innermost Parent | If the AOI invocation is nested within one or more AOI invocations, this displays the AOI invocation one nested level up from the selected invocation. |
Outermost Parent | If the AOI invocation is nested within one or more AOI invocations, this displays the AOI invocation from the selected invocation. |
Path | The names of the programs, routines, rungs, and objects that contain the outermost AOI invocation. |
