Emulated controller

Emulated controllers emulate the behavior of Logix 5000 controllers. The emulated controller enables experimentation and the development and testing of application code in a controlled environment without investing in controllers and I/O modules.
Two different emulator software applications are available to emulate these controllers:
  • You can emulate 5560 and 5570 controllers using Studio 5000 Logix Emulate software for Logix Designer versions 12.00 and later.
    NOTE: Logix Designer versions 37 and later do not support emulated 5560 and 5570 controllers.
  • You can emulate these controllers using FactoryTalk Logix Echo emulator software:

The Logix Designer project file, versions 33 and later, does not require modifications to run on an emulated controller.
Logix Designer and other dialog box title bars display RSL5K_emulate_icon

 when connected to the emulated 5580 controller.
