Change the Lock state of a Safety application

Use the
Safety Lock/Unlock
dialog box to change the Lock state of the Safety application. The dialog box and the parameters vary, depending on the current state of the application (that is, if the application is currently locked, the dialog box appears as the
Unlock
dialog box, and vice versa).
To change the Lock state of a Safety application
  1. Open the
    Safety Lock/Unlock
dialog box by doing one of these actions:
    • Select
      Tools > Safety > Safety Lock/Unlock
      .
    • On the
      Online
      toolbar, select the
      Controller Properties
      icon. On the
      Controller Properties
      dialog box, select the
      Safety
      tab, and then select
      Safety Lock/Unlock
      .
  2. Enter the password, if one is required, for the state to change. There is a separate password for the lock and unlock state.
  3. (optional) To change to the Locked state and to generate a new Safety signature, select the
    Generate Safety Signature
check box. A Safety signature generates when select
    Lock
    .
    The
    Generate Safety Signature
check box is not available when the controller is offline.
  4. (optional) To change to the Unlocked state and to delete the existing Safety signature, select the
    Delete Safety Signature
check box. The Safety signature deletes when select
    Unlock
    .
    The
    Delete Safety Signature
check box is not available if there is no Safety signature, the controller is in Run mode, and Run Mode Protection has been enabled.
  5. Select
    Lock
    or
    Unlock
to lock or unlock the application, respectively.
