Provide license privileges for remote desktop users
Configure the network settings to share license privileges using remote desktop.
Before you begin:
- Configure the network to allow communication between the devices that need to share license privileges. The computers receiving the privileges must establish a connection on TCP and UDP Port 22350 with the computer providing the privileges.
- Enable the license to share for network use. Use the License Portal to configure licenses and optionally enable them for network use.
- Install aCmStickthat contains the same license withUsepermission on the computers that receive permissions. Make sure that the computers that receive permissions from the remote workstation. Insert theCmStickinto a USB port locally on the computers.
- On the remote desktop client computer, open theCodeMeter Control Centerapplication. To open the application, navigate to the C:\Program Files (x86)\CodeMeter\Runtime\bin folder and run theCodeMeter.exefile.IMPORTANT:Install aCmStickthat contains a license with all the privileges to use remotely. Insert theCmStickinto a USB port on your computer.
- SelectWebAdminto open theCodeMeter WebAdminwindow in your default web browser.
- SelectConfiguration > Serverand selectRun network server.
- SelectApply.
- SelectConfiguration > Access Controland selectAdvanced.
- UnderDefault action, selectDenyand selectApply.
- UnderAccess Control Mode, selectBasic.
- SelectAddand enter the list of users (user names, IP addresses, user groups, or subnets) who can access your shared license. ClickApply.
- Navigate to theProcesstab on theCodeMeter Control Centerto stop and then restartCodeMeter.
- Log on to the remote computer with remote desktop.
- On the remote computer, open theCodeMeter Control Centerapplication.IMPORTANT:Insert aCmStickcontaining a corresponding license withUsepermission into any USB port on the remote desktop server. A remote computer cannot provideUsepermission.
- On theConfigurationtab, in the server list, add the name or IP address of the computer that contains the needed permissions.Navigate to theTIP:When theServer Search Listis blank in theCodeMeter WebAdmintool, CodeMeter searches all servers that it finds on your subnet. When a user has a license that is also on a license server, the user's permissions might be upgraded to match the license on the server. To prevent accidental granting of privileges and to prevent CodeMeter from searching unnecessarily, add127.0.0.1(the localhost IP address) to theServer Search List.Processtab on theCodeMeter Control Centerto stop and then restartCodeMeter.
