PID Configuration Dialog Box - Tuning Tab Overview

Use this tab to tune the PID instruction.
Parameters
Setpoint (SP)
The setpoint value, or the value at which you want the PV to be.
Set Output %
The PID output for the software manual set output mode. Use this value to prevent bumps in control when switching control mode back to automatic.
Output Bias
Enter an output bias percentage (.BIAS).
This value is used for the output when in software manual mode.
Proportional Gain
Proportional Gain - Kp or Kc (this depends on whether you selected the Dependent or Independent PID equation; the Dependent gains equation is the ISA standard).
Integral Gain
Integral Gain - Ki or Ti (Reset Gain).
Derivative Time
Enter the derivative gain (.KD).
For independent gains, it’s the derivative gain (seconds).
For dependent gains, it’s the rate time (minutes).
Manual
Select either manual (.MO) or software manual (.SWM).
Manual mode overrides software manual mode if both are selected.
Software Manual
Used to simulate a manual control station. "No" indicates the system is in Automatic mode; "1" indicates Software Manual is enabled.
You specify the output of the PID equation via the Set Output % field.
Reset
Select this button to reset the gain values to the values displayed upon entering this dialog box. When you make changes to the gain values, they are not immediately committed; select
Apply
to apply and save your changes.
