Rockwell Automation has announced the appointment of Greg Nicoloso as the new General Manager of ASEM, S.r.l., a leading provider of digital automation technologies, based in Artegna, Italy.
Nicoloso joins ASEM with more than 19 years of international experience leading technology companies with a focus on organic and inorganic growth. He has held several key leadership and management roles for technology companies, as well as having served on four boards of directors.
Born in Venezuela and raised between Italy and the United States, Nicoloso’s career has included roles as president of Dynatem, part of Eurotech Group; CEO of Eurotech Inc. and SIM2 Multimedia; and general manager, founder, and chief marketing officer of Bamboo Systems.
Prior to his new role, Nicoloso was CEO of an Italian multinational in the U.S, operating in the field of high technology and PC miniaturization. His deep knowledge of the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region of Italy, where ASEM is based, combined with a strong international vision, make him the ideal successor to Renzo Guerra, who founded ASEM in 1979.
"I would like to thank Rockwell Automation for this opportunity. I am proud and excited about the role I am going to play. I know ASEM very well, a leader in the technological and digital integration between the worlds of digital transformation and industrial automation. The company's growth represents a real opportunity for all employees, collaborators and the local community," explains Nicoloso.
In April 2020, ASEM was acquired by Rockwell Automation, a world leader in the supply of automation and digital transformation solutions, already present in Italy for more than 30 years, with employees located in Milan, Bologna and Padua. The global company’s aim is to further grow its presence in Italy by setting up a world-class innovation and production center, offering a high degree of product configurability and customization. ASEM operates in the market for digital components, systems and technologies for machine and process automation, providing “open and standard” hardware platforms integrated with innovative, flexible, and easy-to-use software solutions.
“We are excited to have Greg join the team,” said Susana Gonzalez, EMEA president, Rockwell Automation. “Greg has a proven track record of business achievements. With his experience and the strong team at ASEM, we are looking forward to expanding the success of ASEM across EMEA and the world. We have strengthened our full portfolio with the release of the VersaView® line of industrial PCs, thin clients and monitors, which will help all of our customers optimize their operations.”
Rockwell Automation has already invested heavily in the ASEM production plant in Artegna, increasing the number of employees by more than 20% since 2020. Further investments and hiring are planned.
“ASEM’s strength in solutions for remote access, connectivity and visualization is already expanding our portfolio, supporting our customers’ faster innovation cycles and digital transformation initiatives, while enhancing our ability to deliver high-performance, integrated automation solutions,” said Tessa Myers, Vice President, Product Management at Rockwell Automation. “ASEM’s portfolio and capabilities provide our customers with a high degree of configurability to support their specific needs, through innovative flexible solutions, allowing them to achieve faster time to market, lower their cost of ownership, improve asset utilization, and better manage enterprise risk.”
