Industrial producers face tough decisions when modernizing a legacy distributed control system (DCS). Too often, obsolescence is simply not enough to justify migrating to a modern platform due to the perceived risks of change. However, modernization is a unique opportunity to improve plant operations, increasing production and reducing unplanned downtime and safety incidents. The new PMIO Scanner from Aparian, an Encompass Partner in the Rockwell Automation PartnerNetwork, allows producers to use a phased modernization approach to reduce the risk, time and cost of DCS migrations.

The PMIO Scanner helps simplify conversion from legacy Honeywell TDC 3000 systems to the PlantPAx DCS from Rockwell Automation through small, phased steps. It ultimately leads to the efficient and cost-effective replacement and modernization of failing and soon-to-be-obsolete legacy systems.
The I/O scanner acts as a direct communication interface between the Rockwell Automation controller and the Honeywell I/O network for complete connectivity, so users can use their existing I/O and field wiring. This helps save considerable time rewiring and saves the cost of purchasing new I/O hardware. At the same time, it allows users to take advantage of the full range of the Connected Enterprise capabilities the PlantPAx DCS offers. This includes gaining information-enabled, plantwide control of all critical areas in a plant – from process and discrete to power and safety control – achieve smarter, more productive operations.
