Rockwell Automation, Inc. (NYSE: ROK), the world’s largest company dedicated to industrial automation and digital transformation, is pleased to announce that it recently furthered its commitment toward inspiring students and giving them the skills necessary for their future careers.
The company’s senior leadership team for Europe, Middle East and Africa reinforced this commitment during a recent visit to Istanbul Technical University and the Rockwell Automation Lab within the Department of Control Engineering. There, they met with engineering students and discussed topics such as automation, Industry 4.0, and digitalization.
Sebastien Grau, Regional VP for Middle East, Turkey and Africa at Rockwell Automation, said: “We collaborate with universities around the world to offer hands-on learning and activities, which will prepare students for careers that are evolving as fast as the technologies themselves. We are proud to be supporting the Istanbul Technical University and help transform education systems around the world. We are thrilled to inspire the next generation of innovators to fill the talent pipeline for our customers and for our company.”
Cihan Bulut, EMEA Region Intelligent Devices Product Manager at Rockwell Automation, said: “With the continual development of technology, we have witnessed a very rapid change in the development process. The pandemic accelerated this change and digital transformation has become a mandatory option to continue our lives. Investing in digitalization has become crucial for the continuation of many sectors, from banking to production, and from industry to agriculture. Leaders of the future need to prepare themselves for this change in advance. It is extremely important to learn, apply and gain experience in automation and digital languages, especially in engineering and production.”
Dr. Ali Fuat Ergenc, Vice Dean, ITU, School of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, explains: “Insights from companies serving the market are essential towards shaping student perceptions of their chosen careers. By getting information from companies such as Rockwell, who cater for so many vertical segments, we can be sure we are receiving unambiguous advice and information. Even though the market is constantly changing, it is an exciting time to be an engineer.”
Digital transformation as a key challenge
In 2013, Rockwell Automation helped establish the Power and Automation Laboratory at Istanbul Technical University. With the newest industrial automation devices and 17 experiment benches, Rockwell Automation supports students to become the next leaders of digital transformation.
“We have many friends who graduated from this laboratory and work professionally in Rockwell Automation and the industry,” Bulut added. “We do not just talk to students and leave them we are always there for them. We are preparing students for the future and the future of digital.”
