Improved enterprise connectivity doubles labor productivity annually, boosts on-time delivery 19 percent
MILWAUKEE — The Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) promises more responsive and efficient operations. However, most industrial producers struggle with where to begin and what type of return should be expected. Industrial executives from around the globe will gather next week in San Diego at the Industry of Things World USA event, March 7-9. At the event, Rockwell Automation will share its learnings on how to approach IIoT to create new business opportunities.
During the three-day conference, Rockwell Automation will present on how to best orchestrate data to improve operations. Their learnings come from tapping experience as both a provider of IIoT solutions and services, and as a manufacturer that has applied innovative IIoT strategy across global production processes.
“At Rockwell Automation, we understand the challenges of a digital transformation because we live it,” said Bob Murphy, senior vice president of operations and engineering. “I’m heading to Industry of Things World USA to learn from my peers and share our own best practices. We’ve come a long way in connecting our enterprise. As a result, we’ve doubled labor productivity annually, and increased on-time deliveries by 19 percent. Now, we are targeting our broader supply chain capabilities by increasing our sourcing to fulfillment connectivity to improve our predictability and productivity while decreasing time to market. But this journey is never complete. We are continually looking to deploy new technologies that help us do more with our data and analytics. It’s the only way to stay competitive.”
Attendees at Industry of Things World USA can watch Murphy’s keynote address on Thursday, March 8 at 9:40 a.m. Later that afternoon, David Stonehouse, global consulting leader of Connected Enterprise Services at Rockwell Automation, will present on rethinking business and operating models in IIoT deployments, and how to drive results from early investments. He will also be leading a roundtable discussion on Friday, March 9 on the digital transformation process and overcoming typical roadblocks.
“Industrial companies have an unprecedented opportunity to create data-driven business improvements, but first they need a strategic plan to make sure they get value from each investment,” said Stonehouse. “I’ve been a plant manager, general manager, multi-site manager, global supply chain executive and operations consultant. Across these roles, I’ve seen too many bold technology deployments fall short. Most commonly, because investments aren’t tied to specific business and operational outcomes, or they aren’t well planned and supported.”
Rockwell Automation specialists will be exhibiting data management, scalable analytics and IIoT strategy case studies, solutions and services during the event. The company is a global partner for Industry of Things World events, and will also be presenting at events in Singapore in July and Berlin in September.
