We are committed to our mission of environmental stewardship. We comply fully with regional, national, and local regulations that restrict the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment. To support your compliance programs, we strive to provide easy access to the documentation you and your customers require.
A Global Approach to Meet Your Needs
Our commitment is to demonstrate the highest standards of global environmental management at Rockwell Automation. This core value is integral to all our operations and extends specifically to our efforts to design hazardous substances out of our products. In addition, we proactively incorporate global product environmental requirements into our products and solutions wherever needed.
Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directives
Restricts the use of six hazardous substances in the design of various types of electrical and electronic equipment. Rockwell Automation also participates in recycling programs in Europe as part of our global commitment, following local regulations and the EU Directive 2012/19/EU on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE). As a result, we are in compliance with EU RoHS, WEEE, packaging and battery directives.
Chemical Policies
Registration, Evaluation, Authorization, and Restriction of Chemicals
European Union regulation that addresses the identification and use of chemical substances on their own, in mixtures or in products and their potential impact on human health and the environment.
EU Batteries Directive
Regulates the hazardous substance content and promotes the collection and recycling of batteries and accumulations in the European Union.

Product Safety
Rockwell Automation is committed to the highest product safety standards, enabling our customers to operate safely and productively. We consider product safety across the entire lifecycle of our products, including installation, operations, maintenance, and end-of-life.
As a leading safety automation provider, Rockwell Automation helps our customers optimize performance, increase productivity, and reduce risk through our products and services, including safety management, machine safety, process safety, and electrical safety applications.
Rockwell Automation’s products and services help support our customers’ safe operations through our industrial automation solutions, ranging from logic controllers, motor controls, sensors, software, and our services, including on-site safety services and technical safety training.
Our Development, Quality, Product Management, Marketing, Technical Writing, Sales, and Support staff receive recurring Product Safety awareness training to communicate our commitment to product safety and strengthen our safety culture. An essential part of this training is the requirement of all staff to report any product safety incidents or concerns as soon as possible.
Our Product Safety practice is led by a dedicated enterprise team, reporting to our Chief Technology Officer, and implemented by quality experts distributed throughout the Rockwell Automation business units and product lines. These designated quality experts receive specialized and continuing product safety training. The combined team executes incident investigations, risk assessments, and corrective actions. In the rare case of potential safety-related issues, the team notifies our customers and other interested parties directly via the Rockwell Automation Knowledgebase.
Rockwell Automation utilizes continuous improvement in our product safety program. We monitor and track product safety key performance indicators over time and develop product safety objectives and targets to improve our product safety management system and performance.
We ensure continuous improvement through the following:
- Product safety management system that fully integrates product safety into business planning, operations, and decision-making
Product safety risk assessment as part of the new product development process
Application of Lean Six Sigma practices to our manufacturing processes
Product safety root cause identification and analysis
Internal and external ISO 9001 certification Quality Management System audits
Review and update our Product Safety policies and procedures
Encourage the reporting of product safety anomalies
Product Quality
At Rockwell Automation, we believe that the most important measure of quality is a satisfied customer.
ISO 9001 and ANSI/ESD 2020 Certifications
Our quality system is registered to the ISO 9001 standard. Our products and services are provided by processes that conform to all applicable clauses of the ISO 9001 standard such as purchasing, design, and manufacturing. Rockwell Automation facilities are audited to these standards by an internationally recognized registrar. As evidenced by our continuing registration, we continue to meet or exceed all requirements. Approximately 100 Rockwell Automation locations achieve these standards, and several more satellite locations operate under the umbrella of a larger ISO 9001 certified site.
