Configuration Tab 1756-IB16ISOE, -IH16ISOE
Use this tab to configure 1756-IB16ISOE and 1756-IH16ISOE DC diagnostic modules.
On this tab you can:
- Enable CST capture for each input point
- Enable chatter detection
- Set an input filter time
- Enable CST latchingTIP:The module’s configuration information is stored in the controller and the controller configures themodule.controllerA device that controls machines or processes elements (for example, a programmable controller or relay panel).moduleA device, typically an I/O device, that communicates with the controller. The controller, a particular 1756-IB16I or a PanelView are all considered modules.
TIP:
You can set or clear all check marks in a column on this page by selecting the check box in the header of each column. This allows you to set or clear all of the check boxes at once, without having to select each individual box.
Parameters
Enable CST Capture
Select the boxes for each input point for which you want to capture Off -> On and On -> Off events.
When a box is selected, the specified event is captured for the corresponding input point.
Chatter Detection
Use this to detect a chattering signal from a device connected to an input point and ignore the data. To configure the Chatter Detection for an input, you must define an acceptable number of input transitions within a specific time period.
- No. of Events - Enter the number of input transitions.
- Time (ms) - Enter the specific time period in milliseconds.
If the No. of Events meets the specified Time, the module considers the input point in chatter, the input device defective, and ignores the last transition and all subsequent transitions while still chattering. The corresponding fault bit the input is set.
If the No. of Events is less than the specified Time, the input will not go into chatter and timestamps are produced for all transitions.
Input Filter Time
Select a value to set these two values for Filter Times for each input point group:
- OFF to ON - rising edge filtering for all 16 input channels
- ON to OFF - falling edge filtering for all 16 input channels
Latch CST
Select this box to latch all CST transitions so that an event is not overwritten without being acknowledged. For instance, in 16 channel mode, in a sequence of events from OFF to ON to OFF, the first OFF and ON transitions are recorded, while the final OFF transition is ignored. All subsequent transitions on that point will also be ignored until acknowledged or reset.
If this box is cleared, then the second OFF transition in the example above would overwrite the first OFF transition immediately, even if the controller has not yet extracted the data.
In Queuing mode, events are not erased from the FIFO until read.
Timestamp in CIP Sync (Revision 2 only)
Select this box to enable the module to timestamp using CIP Sync when available. Clear the box (default) to timestamp using CST or UCT if receiving pairs.
CIP Sync allows accurate real-time synchronization of devices and controllers connected over Common Industrial Protocol (CIP) networks that require time stamping, sequence of events recording, distributed motion control, and support for highly distributed applications requiring increased control coordination.
CIP Sync is based on the IEEE 1588 standard - Precision Time Protocol (PTP), which enables precise synchronization of clocks in measurement and control systems. The clocks communicate with each other over the EtherNet/IP communication network. PTP enables heterogeneous systems that include clocks of various inherent precision, resolution and stability to synchronize.
TIP:
This parameter appears only for the 1756-IB16ISOE Rev. 2 module. It is not available for Rev. 1.

If:
- You are online in Program, Remote Program or Remote Run mode and,
- This controller is the owner controller and,
- You have changed the module’s configuration in the software,
when you select
Apply
or OK
, the information is automatically sent to the controller. The controller tries to send the information to the module (if the module’s connection is not inhibited). If you don’t select Apply
, your changes are not sent to the controller.Help
