Configure Fault/Idle 1797-OB4D
You can select specific values for your digital output module to maintain in the event of a network communication error, or when the controller enters Program mode. This is known as a "Safe State".
Tip: | To use this feature, you must set either the Communication Fault Behavior or the Program Mode Behavior to Apply Local Module Safe State or Apply Safe State to Outputs . |
If you choose Apply Local Module Safe State, then you must set these values through the controller tags. In particular, you must set the Ch0FaultState and Ch3FaultState members of the Output tag as follows:
- Set to 0 or Reset, or
- Set to 1 for Hold Last State
Otherwise, if you choose Apply Safe State to Outputs, you can follow the steps below.
To configure the safe state value for a digital output module (with the Apply Safe State to Outputs setting):
- Select one of three ways in which you want the adapter to respond, when a communication fault occurs, by clicking on the down arrow in the Communication Fault Behavior listbox.
- Select one of three ways in which you want the adapter to respond, when it detects Program Mode (idle), by clicking on the down arrow in the Program Mode Behavior listbox.
- Choose a safe state value of On or Off for each point.
