Change the EtherNet IP Mode
Some controllers, such as cpl> 5380 and
CompactLogix
5480, support one or more configurable Ethernet port pairs. Configurable Ethernet ports allow pairs of physical Ethernet ports to be configured in either a Linear/DLR or Dual-IP mode. When configured for Linear/DLR mode, both ports of the configurable pair reside on the same Ethernet network (linear or ring topology) and share IP settings.

When configured for Dual-IP mode, both ports of the configurable pair reside on separate Ethernet networks, each with its own IP address.

The operation mode of the Ethernet ports can be changed using the
Change EtherNet/IP Mode
dialog box.
TIP:
The
CompactLogix
5480 controller's standalone B1 port is not reconfigurable and retains the same configuration regardless of the EtherNet/IP Mode. Before you begin:
- Take the software program offline.
To change the EtherNet/IP mode:
- On theOnlinetoolbar, click theController Propertiesicon.
- On theController Propertiesdialog box, click theGeneraltab.
- SelectChange IP Mode.
- In theNew modebox, select the new EtherNet/IP Mode.
- A1/A2: Dual-IP- a pair of physical Ethernet ports are configured as separate CIP EtherNet/IP ports
- A1/A2: Linear/DLR- a pair of physical Ethernet ports are configured as a single CIP EtherNet/IP port supporting linear and ring topologies
- If changing from Linear/DLR to Dual-IP and an I/O module is underneath one of the configurable Ethernet port pairs in the I/O Configuration tree, inMove I/O and MSG Path to portbox, select the local Ethernet port to add the I/O module.
- SelectOK.
