Module Properties - General for 1440-ACNR/A

Use this tab to create and view module properties for the 1440-ACNR/A.
On this tab, you can perform the following actions.
  • View the type and description of the module
  • View the vendor of the module
  • View the name of the parent module
  • Enter the name of the module
  • Enter a description for the module
  • Select the communication formats for the module
  • Select the minor revision number of your module
  • Select Exact Match, Compatible Module, or Disable Keying
  • Enter the ControlNet node address
  • Enter the
    XM
    node
  • View the status the controller has about the module (you can only view the status while online)
Parameters
Type
Displays the type and description of the module being created (read only).
Vendor
Displays the vendor of the module being created (read only).
Parent
Displays the name of the parent module. If the module is in the local chassis, displays Local.
Name
Enter the name of the module.
The name must be IEC 1131-3 compliant. This is a required field and must be completed; otherwise, you receive an error message when you exit this tab. An error message is also displayed if a duplicate name is detected, or you enter an invalid character. If you exceed the maximum name length allowed by the software, the extra character(s) are ignored.
IEC-61131 Name Standard
(The names are composed per IEC-61131, section 2.1.2.)
An identifier is a string of letters, digits, and underline characters that begin with a letter or underline character. Underlines are significant in identifiers (for example, A_BCD is interpreted differently than AB_CD). Multiple leading or multiple (consecutive) embedded underlines are not allowed, trailing underlines are not allowed, and letter case is not considered significant.
TIP:
In Logix Designer, most component names are limited in length to 40 characters or less.
Description
Enter a description for the module here, up to 128 characters. You can use any printable character in this field. If you exceed the maximum length, the software ignores any extra character(s).
Comm Format
Select the communication formats for the module. This field lists the available communication formats for the module.
When you choose a communication format, you are also defining the following.
  • What configuration tabs are available
  • The tag structure and configuration method
Once you create a module, you cannot change the communication format. To change the configuration, you must delete and recreate the module.
Revision
Select the minor revision number of your module.
The revision is divided into the major revision and minor revision. The major revision is used to indicate the revision of the interface to the module. Valid values are in the range from 0...127. The minor revision is used to indicate the firmware revision. Valid values are in the range from 0...255, with 1 being the default value.
Electronic Keying
Electronic Keying
Electronic Keying reduces the possibility of using the wrong device in a control system. Electronic Keying compares the device defined in the project to the installed device. If keying fails, a fault occurs.
These attributes are compared:
Attribute
Description
Vendor
The device manufacturer.
Device Type
The general type of the device, for example, digital I/O module.
Product Code
The specific type of device. The
Product Code
maps to a catalog number.
Major Revision
A number that represents the functional capabilities of a device.
Minor Revision
A number that represents behavior changes in the device.

ControlNet Node
Set the Node Address for the ControlNet adapter. Valid values are in the range of 1...99.
XM
Node
The
XM
node for the adapter. For the 1440-ACNR/A, the
XM
node is fixed at 0 and the adapter can only be placed on node 0 of the
XM
bus.
Status
Displays the status the controller has about the module.
This status
Indicates
Standby
A transient state that occurs when shutting down.
Faulted
Unable to communicate with the module. When the status is Faulted, the Connection tab displays the fault.
Validating
A transient state that occurs before connecting to the module.
Connecting
A state that occurs while the connection(s) are being established to the module.
Running
The module is communicating and everything is working as expected.
Shutting Down
The connections are closing.
Inhibited
The connection to the module is inhibited.
Waiting
A connection to this module has not yet been made due to one of the following conditions.
  • Its parent has not yet made a connection to it.
  • Its parent is inhibited.
  • Its parent is faulted.
Offline
You are not online.
OK
