Edit a project template

Edit a project template

To edit a project template, open the template and modify the content to appear by default in projects created with the template.
  1. ​​​​​In the main toolbar, select
    Project
    .
    The Start page opens.
  2. Open the template by selecting either:
    • Recent template​​​​. Select ​​​​​​
      Home
      ​​​​ or select ​​​​​​
      Open
      ​​​​ and then select ​​​​​​
      Recent
      ​​​​ to select the template to open.​​​​
    • ​​​​​​​​​​​Remote template​​​​. Select ​​​​​​
      Open
      ​​​​ and then select ​​​​​​
      Remote
      ​​​​ to select the template to open, or enter a
      ​​​​​​Remote URL
      ​​​​ and ​​​​​​
      Location
      ​​​​ to select a remote template.​​​​
  3. Change the content in the Optix template.
  4. Save the Optix template with:
    • ​​​​​​​​​​​The same name. From the toolbar, select ​​​​​​​​​​ ​​​​​​
      Save
      ​​​​.​​​​​​​​
    • A different name:
      1. Name
        . Enter the name of the Optix template.
      2. Save as type
        . Select Optix Template (*.optixt).
      3. Location
        . The location for templates is read-only.
        NOTE: Optix templates are stored in C:\Users\Username\Documents\Rockwell Automation\FactoryTalk Optix\ProjectTemplates. Optix template names are prepended with FTOptix_template_.
      4. (optional)
        Use Version Control
        . Select to track changes made to the Optix template and store the template in a Git repository.
      5. (optional)
        Encrypt secrets
        . Select to encrypt sensitive data contained in the Optix template.
      6. Select
        OK
        .
    • The same name and committed to the repository. From the toolbar, select
      Save
      >
      Save and Commit
      .
  5. To close the template, from the main toolbar, select
    Project
    , and then on the Start page, select
    Close Project
    .
