Module Properties Dialog Box - Channel A Protocol Errors Tab Overview (1756-DHRIO)

Use this tab to view the channel A protocol errors. This tab evaluates the Remote I/O link and the Remote I/O scanner’s receiver and transmitter status.
I/O (input/output)
Devices that provide and/or receive data from the controller.
On this tab, you can:
  • View receive errors
  • View transmit errors
  • View I/O transmit errors
  • Reset counter to zero
  • Refresh all fields with data from the module
    module
A device, typically an I/O device, that communicates with the controller. The controller, a particular 1756-IB16I or a PanelView are all considered modules.
Parameters
There are 17 diagnostic counters that pertain to protocol errors on the Remote I/O Link on the selected channel.
Receive
Displays these errors:
This error:
Indicates:
Idle Error
the receiver detected an error in the reply
Bad CRC
the CRC error occurred during reception
cyclic redundancy check (CRC)
A Cyclic Redundancy Check (CRC) is an error checking technique used by computers.
Carrier Detect Lost Error
the carrier detect signal of the receiver was lost during the reception of a reply
DPLL Error
receiver acknowledged a missing transition during a reply
Abort Error
receiver acknowledged an ABORT of a reply
Frame Size Error
receiver received a reply that was larger than what was expected
Non-Octet Alignment Error
receiver received a reply that was not octet aligned
Glitch Error
receiver clocking error
Overrun Error
receiver overran the buffer allocated for the reply
Busy Error
the receiver received a frame that was discarded
Babble Detected
the scanner was unable to get a quiet period on the link so that it can begin transmitting
Transmit
Displays these errors:
This error:
Indicates:
RIO Error
the Remote I/O port identified a problem with transmitting a data packet at the link layer of the Remote I/O protocol and terminated the transmission
Underrun
the scanner acknowledged an underrun of a request
I/O
Displays these errors:
This error:
Indicates:
Mask Data Mismatch
the reply size does not match the mask size indicator
Adapter Size Overlap
the reply rack size is less than the scanner knows it to be
Adapter Address Mismatch
the adapter address in the response does not match the adapter address in the request
address
A PLC-5/SLC term. File, element, and bit addresses (for example, N:7/0) no longer exist in ControlLogix. Instead, memory is allocated and named using tags.
Too Many Adapters Online
the Remote I/O port identified too many adapters on the Remote I/O link
Refresh
