Parameters
Description
Ladder Element
Enter the element to add. The ladder element list advances to the closest match.
If the project uses a controller that does not have a serial port, the
Add Ladder Element
dialog box does not show the ASCII Serial Port group, which contains the Serial Port instructions (the ASCII String and ASCII Conversion groups and instructions remain). The user-configured tab order is not affected by the removal of the ASCII Serial Port group.
Instruction Help
Select to toggle between turning the
Instruction Help
pane on and off.
The
Instruction Help
pane is operational for built-in instructions and Add-On Instructions.
Instruction Help Pane
Opens to the right and displays the instruction help.
For built-in language elements, a
Full Instruction Help for <element>
button above the instruction help text navigates to the full instruction help for that instruction.
Logix Designer
application Instruction
Once the dialog box is expanded to display the help, the
Logix Designer
application Instruction
button is enabled to access help for built-in instructions. This option is not available for Add-On Instructions.
Ladder Element List
Available ladder elements include:
  • Rung
  • Branch
  • Branch level
  • All available instructions, which includes an Add-On folder that contains all the Add-On Instructions in the project.
If an instruction is not valid for the current context, for example, inside an Add-On Instruction logic routine, the instruction is not in the list. Add-On Instructions that cause recursive calls are in the list, but appear dimmed.
Show Instructions by Groups
Displays the list in groups to help organize the instructions. Selected by default. When deselected, the instructions appear in alphabetical order.
New Add-On Instruction
Opens the
New Add-on Instruction
