Verify Source Key protection on a component
Verify that the source key protection is working after you apply source key protection to a component. To verify a component is protected, temporarily disable the source key on your workstation.
This verification method describes how to disable the source key by specifying the path to an empty sk.dat file. This method makes it easy to switch back and forth between sk.dat files. However, make sure to specify the correct sk.dat file when creating new source keys.
To verify source key protection by specifying the path to a different sk.dat file:
- On theSource Protection Configurationdialog box, clickSpecify.
- On theSpecify Source Key File Locationdialog box, select a directory that doesnotcontain an sk.dat file. For example,C:\.Logix Designer\Projects\Empty
- When a message appears and asks if you want to create a new file, clickYes.
- When the create a new directory message appears, clickYes. The software now points to an empty sk.dat file, which mimics a user who does not have a source key.
- Try to access the protected component.
