Start debugging on the remote machine

Deploy the runtime application to the remote machine and start the debugging process on the development machine.
  1. To start debugging on the remote machine
  2. From the main toolbar, select
    Open .NET Solution
    .
    The default external code editor opens.
    TIP: Rockwell Automation recommends using Microsoft Visual Studio 2022 or Microsoft Visual Studio Code as the default code editor. Some development assistance features may not be available when using a different code editor.
  3. From
    FactoryTalk Optix Studio
    , deploy the
    FTOptixApplication
    to the target device.

  4. In Visual Studio, configure and start the debugging process.
    Attach to process with these settings:
    ConnectionType
    Default.
    ConnectionTarget
    The name and port that you obtained while performing Prepare the remote machine for debugging.
    Available Process
    FTOptixRuntime.exe
