Configure the port settings
Use the
Port Configuration
tab to configure the port settings for the controller. The tab is only available for controllers with an embedded Ethernet port. The parameters on this tab are only configurable when the controller is online.
To configure the port settings:
- Open the Port Configuration tab:
- On theOnlinetoolbar, click theController Propertiesicon.
- On theController Propertiesdialog box, click thePort Configurationtab.
- Select theEnablecheck box to enable the port and the other parameters on the tab.
- If you want the controller to automatically select the best port speed and duplex for communication, select theAuto-Negotiatecheck box.
- If you did not select theAuto-Negotiatecheck box, set the port speed and duplex manually:
- In theSelected Speedbox, select the speed for the port. Valid values are dependent upon the controller you are using.
- In theSelected Duplexbox, select the duplex for the port. The duplex selection controls whether data is sent and received in one direction at a time (Half), or sent and received simultaneously in both directions (Full). Valid values are dependent upon the controller you are using. TheFullsetting is recommended if sending and receiving large amounts of data.
- ClickOK.If the controller requires a power cycle to apply the settings, this message appears:Changes to Speed and Duplex require controller power cycle. If the controller does not require a power cycle to apply the settings, the message does not appear.
