Configure the port settings

Use the
Port Configuration
tab to configure the port settings for the controller. The tab is only available for controllers with an embedded Ethernet port.
The parameters on this tab are only configurable when the controller is online.
To configure the port settings:
  1. Open the Port Configuration tab:
    1. On the
      Online
      toolbar, click the
      Controller Properties
      icon.
    2. On the
      Controller Properties
      dialog box, click the
      Port Configuration
      tab.
  2. Select the
    Enable
check box to enable the port and the other parameters on the tab.
  3. If you want the controller to automatically select the best port speed and duplex for communication, select the
    Auto-Negotiate
    check box.
  4. If you did not select the
    Auto-Negotiate
check box, set the port speed and duplex manually:
    1. In the
      Selected Speed
box, select the speed for the port. Valid values are dependent upon the controller you are using.
    2. In the
      Selected Duplex
box, select the duplex for the port. The duplex selection controls whether data is sent and received in one direction at a time (
      Half
), or sent and received simultaneously in both directions (
      Full
). Valid values are dependent upon the controller you are using. The
      Full
setting is recommended if sending and receiving large amounts of data.
  5. Click
    OK
    .
If the controller requires a power cycle to apply the settings, this message appears:
Changes to Speed and Duplex require controller power cycle.
If the controller does not require a power cycle to apply the settings, the message does not appear.
